Determining Your Setup

The "Setup" filter helps you to focus on those presets best-suited for how you use your Axe-Fx.

FRFR/Direct presets (like all of the Factory presets) are designed for "full-range flat-response" systems such as studio monitors, PAs, headphones, etc.

Pwr. Amp + Cab presets use real power amps and guitar speakers.

4-Cable Method (aka :4CM") presets require a special setup with connectors both in front of and in the effects loop of a real amp.

Fx Loop presets in the loop of a real amp. A loop may be SERIES or PARALLEL and the preset needs to be built accordingly.

Gtr Amp Input presets should be used in front of a (real) head or combo. Guitar->Axe-Fx->Amp Input.

Other setups also exist (e.g. combinations of the above).

The Axe-Fx II manual (chapter three) includes more information about setups.

"Cab" search results ignore the settings of this filter.

Description This preset has been assembled from the 2018 Eric Johnson youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nx6cUuH7QGw Its close, guitars and cabs will alter the sound obviously. He uses two twin heads for stereo, scenes 1 and 2 use one double verb vibrato head in stereo. For the dirty, he used a Two-Rock clean amp, so the Two-stone amp is as good as it gets, sounds pretty good.. For the lead, I tried to use the 1959SLP, but it just sounds muddy, so I got the marshall 1970 plexi and 100w plexis to work. I run the lead scenes with 2 amps, one treble, one normal. It gives it much more body and character. The knob settings are close to what he has in the video. The echo plex he uses really for just tone, so I ran that in front on the amps. The digital delays I ran after. For the cabs, I use 4 York Marshall 412 MV30 cabs, with a stereo input.: Cab 1L - YA MRSH 412 MV30 Room-1, panned left Cab 2R - YA MRSH 412 MV30 Room-2, panned right Cab 3L - YA MRSH 412 MV30 Room-L, panned left Cab 4R - YA MRSH 412 MV30 Room-R, panned right Yes, it does take up to 15% more CPU, but, it sounds awesome. I use a powercab 212+ for live, and so the midi block is there just to control it, you can delete it, as well as the looper if you are not into that.
