Determining Your Setup

The "Setup" filter helps you to focus on those presets best-suited for how you use your Axe-Fx.

FRFR/Direct presets (like all of the Factory presets) are designed for "full-range flat-response" systems such as studio monitors, PAs, headphones, etc.

Pwr. Amp + Cab presets use real power amps and guitar speakers.

4-Cable Method (aka :4CM") presets require a special setup with connectors both in front of and in the effects loop of a real amp.

Fx Loop presets in the loop of a real amp. A loop may be SERIES or PARALLEL and the preset needs to be built accordingly.

Gtr Amp Input presets should be used in front of a (real) head or combo. Guitar->Axe-Fx->Amp Input.

Other setups also exist (e.g. combinations of the above).

The Axe-Fx II manual (chapter three) includes more information about setups.

"Cab" search results ignore the settings of this filter.

Set Up Direct

Description I use this as a lead sound for my American Deluxe Stratocaster. Using two JCM 800 amps running into two cabinets, effect is only Dual Delay. For the amps I played with the Supply Sag under the DYN tab, idea was to turn up the voltage of the virtual tubes, try adjusting the master on the PWR tab this will drive the virtual tubes harder as its increased (See pg 44 of manual). On this type of Strat to me it sounds best with 5 way switch set to position 5 without S1 switch engaged running neck pickup only, strat gets more of a traditional pop sound from the pickup, or 5 way switch set to position 2 with S1 switch engaged. On American Deluxe strat position 2 with S1 switch engaged runs middle and bridge pickup in series vs parallel, this setting has little more sustain and less single coil pop. I have been using this preset for backing track to Comfortably Numb seems to fit in the mix very well.
