Axe Change -The Official Site for Fractal Audio Presets, Cabs and More

Determining Your Setup

The "Setup" filter helps you to focus on those presets best-suited for how you use your Axe-Fx.

FRFR/Direct presets (like all of the Factory presets) are designed for "full-range flat-response" systems such as studio monitors, PAs, headphones, etc.

Pwr. Amp + Cab presets use real power amps and guitar speakers.

4-Cable Method (aka :4CM") presets require a special setup with connectors both in front of and in the effects loop of a real amp.

Fx Loop presets in the loop of a real amp. A loop may be SERIES or PARALLEL and the preset needs to be built accordingly.

Gtr Amp Input presets should be used in front of a (real) head or combo. Guitar->Axe-Fx->Amp Input.

Other setups also exist (e.g. combinations of the above).

The Axe-Fx II manual (chapter three) includes more information about setups.

"Cab" search results ignore the settings of this filter.

Fractal Product Axe-Fx II

Firmware Version 14.x

Set Up Direct

Description My updated Trey A patch for firmware 14.00!

This patch is now using an UltraRes IR. My preference is the TAF_TangoJR_MIX IR. This is the missing V30 2x12 IR I never knew I was searching for until now! It's bigger, like Trey's cab, and has the V30 notch like his cab setup. If you don't have the TAF IR pack you can try the TAF_Art+TangoJR-MIX which comes with FW 14.00 -- it's a bit brighter but is still quite good. I also like the OwnHammer OH_212_BOG-SH_M-BB-55_SP mix IR from the OwnHammer UltraRes pack. And finally, if you don't want to use UltraRes, I recommend the 2x12 Supremo Mix from the factory IRs.

Scenes are setup to set from clean -> gain and then in to weird land on Scene 4 and 5. Scene 4 is wah + delay + reverb. Scene 5 is whammy + delay + reverb. Whammy and Wah are both auto-on and both assigned to External 1 so adjust to suit your tastes.

Patch was dialled in with a darker-sounding PRS Standard 24 so it might be a bit bright for some guitars. Fair warning.
