Determining Your Setup

The "Setup" filter helps you to focus on those presets best-suited for how you use your Axe-Fx.

FRFR/Direct presets (like all of the Factory presets) are designed for "full-range flat-response" systems such as studio monitors, PAs, headphones, etc.

Pwr. Amp + Cab presets use real power amps and guitar speakers.

4-Cable Method (aka :4CM") presets require a special setup with connectors both in front of and in the effects loop of a real amp.

Fx Loop presets in the loop of a real amp. A loop may be SERIES or PARALLEL and the preset needs to be built accordingly.

Gtr Amp Input presets should be used in front of a (real) head or combo. Guitar->Axe-Fx->Amp Input.

Other setups also exist (e.g. combinations of the above).

The Axe-Fx II manual (chapter three) includes more information about setups.

"Cab" search results ignore the settings of this filter.

Set Up Direct

Description This is my attempt to pay homage to the Magnatone Tonemaster or the Evil Robot amps. I did this by heavily modifying both a double verb & a supremo amp. This preset has kind of an unhinged, roaring, & grinding kind of quality that cleans up if you back off the volume on your guitar. You can find great heard rock or metal tones in the vein of live early Jimmy Page, or Kim Thayil, or punk tones ala Captain Sensible from The Damned, or if you clean it up some with your volume knob, country rock can be had. You could play some real dirty blues with this too. Scenes 7 & 8 bring the funk courtesy of a pick dynamics triggered narrow, quacking, sweeping wah. The preset uses all 8 scenes due to some differing EQ before the amp and X/Y set ups of cabs, amps, & reverb to get a variety tone colors. ************************************************************************************************************************************** Here are the cabinets I used: Cab1-X Position: Clark Kent's Marshall 1960av #4 (found here: http://forum.fractalaudio.com/axe-fx-ii-user-cabs-irs/83975-clark-kents-free-marshall-1960av-ultrares-irs.html) ************************************************************************************************************************************** Cab 1-Y Position: 1 X 12 AC-20 Dlx M160 Off-Axis (found in the FAS folder when you download FW14) ************************************************************************************************************************************** Cab 2-X Position:1 X 12 Tweedverb R121 (found in the FAS folder when you download FW14) ************************************************************************************************************************************** Cab 2-Y Position: Taf_Acrox_U47_04_Edge [found in The Amp Factory Legends collection in the folder named 2X12_ACRox(Blue)] ************************************************************************************************************************************** All different guitars were used to build this preset including my 1992 Fender American Standard Stratocaster with stock single coil pickups, Gibson Dusk Tiger with stock EMG's, Epiphone ES-175, and Electra MPC Vulcan x-940 LP copy. Please enjoy and let me know what you think as I am always looking to improve my preset making abilities and tone chasing.
