Description This patch is designed for running an outboard Talkbox effect (Rocktron Banshee / MXR M222) through the Axe Fx 2 via the FX Loop. It also allows for the mic'd up Talkbox signal to be processed by the Axe Fx and outputted separate to the Main Outputs so that a FOH engineer can mix the normal Guitar signal and the Talkbox signal independently. For this to work you will need a Mic Pre or it wont work. You will also need to set the following in the I/O menu: INPUT 2 MODE - L+R SUM OUTPUT 2 MODE - STEREO The dial for output 2 on the front panel must also be turned up full. You will need to connect the guitar to the Main front panel input like normal. Then connect the FX Send Left Channel to the input of the Talkbox (the Talkbox output remains unplugged). Connect the mic on your Talkbox to your Mic Pre to boost the signal and then connect the output of the Mic Pre to the FX Return Left Channel. Connect the FX Send Right Channel to a Di and then to the FOH mixer or instead a powered speaker. This preset allows the Talkbox to remain switched on at all times but the Axe Fx routs the guitar signal to the Talkbox via the FX Loop by switching scenes. Scene 1 = clean amp Scene 2 = Talkbox / clean amp off One of the advantages of this setup is that it allows for effects to be applied to the mic'd up talkbox tone. I placed a basic delay inline with the mic signal but other effects can be used (Reverse Delay or Multi Delay Plex Detune work well or even Harmonizer). I have also placed a Gate/Expander Block inline to block out any unwanted stage noise picked up by the mic. Another advantage of this setup is that it allows you to use your mic for normal singing or talking to the audience but only applies the effects to the mic when activating the Talkbox (Scene 2). The mic'd up talkbox signal now passes through the Send and Return Blocks and is fed back out through the FX Send Right Channel to the FOH or a powered speaker. Another added advantage for this preset is that by leaving the Talkbox switched on at all times, it allows you to integrate switching in or out your Talkbox with your Scene changes for seamless transitions (one less switch to press). Enjoy...
