Determining Your Setup

The "Setup" filter helps you to focus on those presets best-suited for how you use your Axe-Fx.

FRFR/Direct presets (like all of the Factory presets) are designed for "full-range flat-response" systems such as studio monitors, PAs, headphones, etc.

Pwr. Amp + Cab presets use real power amps and guitar speakers.

4-Cable Method (aka :4CM") presets require a special setup with connectors both in front of and in the effects loop of a real amp.

Fx Loop presets in the loop of a real amp. A loop may be SERIES or PARALLEL and the preset needs to be built accordingly.

Gtr Amp Input presets should be used in front of a (real) head or combo. Guitar->Axe-Fx->Amp Input.

Other setups also exist (e.g. combinations of the above).

The Axe-Fx II manual (chapter three) includes more information about setups.

"Cab" search results ignore the settings of this filter.

Firmware Version Q-8.x

Set Up Direct

Description I've spent ALL DAY on this patch. This, I believe (no pun intended), is the closest you will get to sounding like late '80s Satch. It's very different to the last Satch patch I created, because there is now SEVEN scenes (listed below) and the selected cab is much more relevant for the tone than the other one (2x12 Pro Reverb IR vs. a 4x10 Super Reverb IR? No contest). The SCENES: 1) Clean on the verge of breakup with digital delay for something like 'Circles' intro or any of that finger-tapped goodness. 2) Same as before but with reverse delay for 'Day at the Beach (New Rays from an Ancient Sun)'. 3) Crunchy rhythm guitar with a bit of bite ala 'Surfing with the Alien' as well as other tracks/albums. 4) Same as before but with some reverb, because why not? 5) Lead tone with reverb for songs like... well... most of them from the late '80s albums. 6) Same as before but delay instead of reverb for songs like 'Flying in a Blue Dream'. 7) Lead for 'Surfing with the Alien' (may need to use the neck pickup and roll off guitar's volume to half way to 'thin' up the tone for most accurate result).
