Determining Your Setup

The "Setup" filter helps you to focus on those presets best-suited for how you use your Axe-Fx.

FRFR/Direct presets (like all of the Factory presets) are designed for "full-range flat-response" systems such as studio monitors, PAs, headphones, etc.

Pwr. Amp + Cab presets use real power amps and guitar speakers.

4-Cable Method (aka :4CM") presets require a special setup with connectors both in front of and in the effects loop of a real amp.

Fx Loop presets in the loop of a real amp. A loop may be SERIES or PARALLEL and the preset needs to be built accordingly.

Gtr Amp Input presets should be used in front of a (real) head or combo. Guitar->Axe-Fx->Amp Input.

Other setups also exist (e.g. combinations of the above).

The Axe-Fx II manual (chapter three) includes more information about setups.

"Cab" search results ignore the settings of this filter.

Set Up Direct

Description Hello! Well, after about, oh, 8 months of procrastinating, for those that are interested, here is my 'Clean (ish) to Full on Dirt Morphing patch' for the Fractal AX8 :-) You can use this patch to smoothly transition from a clean/edgy tone to a soaring dirt tone, just by rocking an expression pedal. Super fun and super easy for gigging. No thinking required! This is my main gigging patch - It does about 90% of a gig (27 songs!) so is a real workhorse patch. I've set this up for you so it uses Exp 1 to control the morphing between the two tones. The way I have this set up is so that the clean tone (heel down) is actually quite jangly / edgy, which is what I need most of the time for cleaner bits. If I need completely clean, I just roll off with the guitar volume to clean it up. Toe down is full on dirt. There are a few things going on in here, which you can probably figure out if you check out the patch, for example: Delay mix increases, brightness switch flips, input drive and trim adjust, master volume moves and a few other things to give me the perfect blend FOR ME for the tones I need. YMMV, however, you can adjust either end of the morph to give u whatever tone YOU want. Hope you have fun with it. I love this patch and the tones! Created on FW10 release candidate 2, using an Atomic CLR monitor. Give it a shot - at the least, it may give u some ideas :-)
