Determining Your Setup

The "Setup" filter helps you to focus on those presets best-suited for how you use your Axe-Fx.

FRFR/Direct presets (like all of the Factory presets) are designed for "full-range flat-response" systems such as studio monitors, PAs, headphones, etc.

Pwr. Amp + Cab presets use real power amps and guitar speakers.

4-Cable Method (aka :4CM") presets require a special setup with connectors both in front of and in the effects loop of a real amp.

Fx Loop presets in the loop of a real amp. A loop may be SERIES or PARALLEL and the preset needs to be built accordingly.

Gtr Amp Input presets should be used in front of a (real) head or combo. Guitar->Axe-Fx->Amp Input.

Other setups also exist (e.g. combinations of the above).

Set Up Pwr. Amp + Cab

Description This is my new main heavy preset. I'm in a Breaking Benjamin cover band. 1. Rhythm, 2. Lead, 3. Clean, 4. Lead w/ their signature rotary effect, 5. Clean w/ Klon drive, 6. Clean w/ Klon and FX, 7. Clean w/ Rotary FX, 8. Trem I always put a pitch block on my presets and push the bass down a bit. I use an octave set super low to give it this extra fuzz and chunk. I like it. I like it a lot. I haven't tone matched it yet, but will in the future for the Axe FX 2 (Don't have a 3). It's super heavy, so tame the drive block and gain on the amps as you wish. We love to blast our amps at practice, so the noise gate is jacked up as well. Woop woop. I use an ESP EX/Vulture/Snakebyte w/ EMG's and an ESP Phoenix with Fishman Fluence Moderns on this preset. It's fun to amp swap as well. I find the Thordendal Modern and Dizzy 4 go together with almost any amp.
