Determining Your Setup

The "Setup" filter helps you to focus on those presets best-suited for how you use your Axe-Fx.

FRFR/Direct presets (like all of the Factory presets) are designed for "full-range flat-response" systems such as studio monitors, PAs, headphones, etc.

Pwr. Amp + Cab presets use real power amps and guitar speakers.

4-Cable Method (aka :4CM") presets require a special setup with connectors both in front of and in the effects loop of a real amp.

Fx Loop presets in the loop of a real amp. A loop may be SERIES or PARALLEL and the preset needs to be built accordingly.

Gtr Amp Input presets should be used in front of a (real) head or combo. Guitar->Axe-Fx->Amp Input.

Other setups also exist (e.g. combinations of the above).

My Trey A patch updated for FW16.01. The signal chain has changed slightly as I've been experimenting with the rotary block placement. Finally decided I liked it best fed by the CAB block and running straight out. This is more "real world" but if you like looping and delaying the rotary sound just run it back in to the main line instead of direct to an output.

The big change was the drive blocks. 16.01 saw some really nice updates to any drive block model that was 808 based so of course I had to revisit the drive blocks in this patch. The EQ'ing is less severe now and the clipping is back to the Si diodes like in the real deal pedals. Sounds really good now and the stacking is even better than ever.

The X side of the amp block is still USA Clean 1, but I'll be honest: I pretty much play it on the Y side all the time now using the Shiver Clean model. I think it sounds more "current Trey" and that's a sound I'm really enjoying.

The CAB block uses the The Amp Factory TAF_ART+TangoJR-MIX IR but if you don't have that switch the CAB block to the Y side where I've dialled it in with the factory OH_412_MAR-CB_V30-CH_Studio-Modern IR that comes with the firmware download.
