Determining Your Setup

The "Setup" filter helps you to focus on those presets best-suited for how you use your Axe-Fx.

FRFR/Direct presets (like all of the Factory presets) are designed for "full-range flat-response" systems such as studio monitors, PAs, headphones, etc.

Pwr. Amp + Cab presets use real power amps and guitar speakers.

4-Cable Method (aka :4CM") presets require a special setup with connectors both in front of and in the effects loop of a real amp.

Fx Loop presets in the loop of a real amp. A loop may be SERIES or PARALLEL and the preset needs to be built accordingly.

Gtr Amp Input presets should be used in front of a (real) head or combo. Guitar->Axe-Fx->Amp Input.

Other setups also exist (e.g. combinations of the above).

Description A rig I came up with while doing some corporate gig stuff. Allowed my to cover a very wide berth of tones in one patch. Amps are a plexi on X, Friedman 2018 on Y. Tubescreamer in front for drive. 2nd drive is a FAS boost, set only for leads. Since I run direct I have a filter boosting 800hz 6 db, to help cut in a mix. Boosts it to 12db in leads. Lead boost is done via control switch 1, that way it won't change my amp X/Y like scenes would Along with a drive pedal, lead button turns on a phaser (set for VH) and a delay.. Wah is a standard CryBaby (set to extern. 2) Pitch block is to raise pitch 1 step (we played in Eb, but occasionally did songs in E std) The biggest thing about this rig was the volume pedal in external 1. I had it connected with the amplifier's gain knob and boost switch, this acted as a faux guitar volume knob. This really helped shape the dynamics of the rig for each song and each song part without needing 100 different patches. Essentially you have the non-lead drive pedal and the volume pedal between the two amps to take you from edge of breakup British to fire breathing hard rock.
